🐾 LIMPING

Good morning, dear reader; today I want to share the following reflection...

A boy enters a pet store and asks about the price of the puppies.

“Between €300 and €500,” replies the owner.

The boy reaches into his pocket, takes out a couple of bills, and exclaims:

“I only have €100, but... could I at least see the puppies?”

The store owner calls Lady, the puppies’ mother, who runs toward him followed by five precious balls of fur.

One of them arrives limping, later than his siblings.

“What’s wrong with the last puppy?” the boy asks.

The man explains that the puppy has a hip problem and, unfortunately, will limp his whole life.

A big smile appears on the boy’s face, who shouts with eyes full of hope:

“That’s the dog I want to buy!”

The store owner responds:

“This puppy cannot be sold, but if you want him, I’ll give him to you because he’s worthless.”

The boy stays silent for a few seconds... looks at the man and says:

“I don’t want you to give him to me because this dog is worth the same as the others. I will pay for him in full. I will give you the €100 now and pay €10 every month.”

Surprised, the shopkeeper replies:

“But boy! This puppy will never be able to run or jump. He can hardly play with you!”

The boy slightly lifts his pants, showing his left leg... revealing the prosthesis he wears.

“See, sir,” he says, “I don’t run very well either, but I also feel, think, and perceive with all my senses. Being different doesn’t make us useless; on the contrary... I’m sure it makes us more human, more sensitive, because we see with the eyes of the soul. Besides, this puppy will need someone who understands him, cares for him, and loves him just as he is.”

The man, moved, lowered his head and tenderly said:

“You are absolutely right. Today you have taught me a great lesson. Take him; I’m sure you will have a great friend in this puppy.”

Many times we learn great life lessons from special beings who make a big difference with love and kindness in our lives.
